My love of stories stems from my father and the tales he made up when we were little. I’ve been an avid reader all my life and have written stories since I was twelve. Only since joining StoryVine writers group did I really develop my craft. I’d only ever written short stories or picture books before I wrote my first novel, Paladin. Now I’ve got the novel bug and the words are flowing. Writing is a joy and I love creating characters. There will be more.
My favourite fantasy books are the Old Kingdom series by Garth Nix; The Wind on Fire trilogy by William Nicholson; The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien and The Narnia series by CS Lewis. Wonderful. I am an eclectic reader. Journey to the River Sea is a brilliant book. I grew up with Enid Blyton (yes I am that old). The Famous Five, the mystery books and of course St.Claire’s and Mallory Towers. If I’m immersed in a book, I am happy.
My other big passion, cricket, although test matches do tend to dramatically reduce my productivity. What can I say. If you’ve never tuned in to Test Match Special you are missing out on one of life’s great pleasures.
